José M. Gilgado
José M. Gilgado is the founder of MatGoat and a software engineer with more than 20 years of experience building software products. He has spent over a decade building software at Buffer.
Since 2024, he has been developing MatGoat using feedback from BJJ and martial arts academies. The product grew out of firsthand observation of the day-to-day challenges of attendance tracking, payments, communication, and keeping track of students.
He has practiced BJJ since 2021 and writes about technology and academy management from the perspective of someone who designs, builds, and improves software with real users.
